Affinity Bank Awards $27,000 to Non-Profit Corporations
Ventura, CA - In its ongoing commitment to support non-profit community
groups providing affordable housing and related services to low/moderate
income people, Affinity Bank contributed $27,000 funding to local
organizations in December 2001.
Michael R. McGuire, president and CEO of Affinity Bank said, "Affinity
Bank is pleased to be able to contribute to these organizations
and assist them as they strive to provide services to those in need.
This is particularly gratifying since we are aware that many non-profits
are experiencing shortfalls in funding due to contributions being
redirected to support the families of victims of the 9-11 tragedy."
Mr. McGuire was able to personally deliver checks to representatives
from Ventura County organizations, including Caregivers, Meals on
Wheels, Women's Economic Ventures, Turning Point Foundation, and
Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation.
Mr. McGuire also presented Laura Achuleta, President of Jamboree
Housing Corporation, with a check for $5,000. Jamboree Housing Corporation
an Orange County non-profit organization, provides long-term, decent,
safe and affordable housing to low and moderate income families.
Their Housing with HEART provides programs and services to enhance
the lives of residents who live in Jamboree Housing Corporation-owned
communities. This includes tutoring for children as well as assistance
with daily living activities for seniors.
Affinity Bank's community investment policy provides for a portion
of the Bank's pre-tax earnings to be invested supporting affordable
housing for low/moderate income people, providing economic development
opportunities to its communities, and targeting community services
for Special Needs Populations.
