New Member Appointed to KCLU Advisory Board
Mike McGuire, co-founder and president of Ventura-based Affinity
Bank, has been appointed the newest member of the KCLU Advisory
Board. KCLU is the national public radio station located on the
campus of California Lutheran University.
McGuire, a resident of Santa Barbara, has for many years been
an active member in the community, volunteering his time to numerous
groups including serving on boards of various housing organizations
in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. He is Board President of
the Turning Point Foundation, which provides housing and support
services for the mentally ill, and of the Cabrillo Economic Development
Corp., a nonprofit developer.
A native of Oregon, McGuire began his banking career in Portland
after his discharge from the Army in 1969. He became a senior bank
executive and chief executive of La Cumbre Savings in Santa Barbara
before leading the newly formed Affinity Bank in 1995.
As a member of the KCLU Advisory Board, McGuire will work with
other KCLU Board members to help develop long-range plans and coordinate
fundraising efforts for the station that serves Santa Barbara and
Ventura counties. A community service of California Lutheran University
in Thousand Oaks, KCLU is supported by its listening members and
by underwriting from local, regional and national corporations
and foundations. The station can be heard on 102.3 FM in Santa
Barbara and 88.3 FM in Ventura.
McGuire joins 11 other KCLU Advisory Board members including board
chair Robert Ornstein, Esq. (Santa Barbara) of Ornstein & Harris;
Sue Chadwick (Camarillo) of Santa Barbara Bank & Trust; Charles
W. Cohen, Esq. (Westlake Village); Anna Gustafson-Grotenhuis (Carpinteria),
a Santa Barbara community activist; Frank Magid (Santa Barbara)
of Frank N. Magid Associates; Tom Malley, Esq. (Camarillo); Ron
Poulson (Thousand Oaks) of Ron Poulson Associates; George Ramirez
(Port Hueneme); Andrew Swart (Santa Barbara); and Dave Watson (Thousand
Oaks) of UBS PaineWebber. Dr. Ritch Eich, CLU’s Vice President
of Marketing and Communications, and Mary Olson, KCLU General Manager,
also serve on the board.
