Affinity Bank Wins Poinsettia Award
Ventura, California, December 15, 1999: The Chamber of Commerce’s
Poinsettia Awards annually recognize community businesses and business
leaders for their contributions to the community. This year, Affinity
Bank and Affinity Group, Inc. were "Large Business of the Year"
award joint recipients, for their sponsorships of several large
community events and support services, including:
• The Ventura Chamber Music Festival, an annual eight-day
musical event highlighting musicians of all types from all over
the world
• An Alcohol-free family fireworks celebration on the 4th
of July
• City Art Walks, which showcase galleries and works of local
artists
• A Neighborhood Home Loan Counseling Center, run by the Cabrillo
Economic Development Corporation (CEDC)
• The "Turning Point Program" of emergency shelter
and supportive services to people with mental health disabilities
• And other activities such as the Ventura Beach Clean-up,
supporters for pollution control, part of the city’s annual
Awareness Week.
Both companies stated a commitment to continuing similar contributions
in the year 2000.
